Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed strikers Frank Nouble and Jack Marriott are close to leaving the club.

Nouble was left out of the 18-man squad which lost to Reading at the weekend with new loan signing Conor Sammon the preferred option from the bench.

"I've spoken to Frank and he's available for transfer or to go out on loan," McCarthy told the official club website.

"We've got four strikers now. He's seen other players come in and he's not daft. He wants to play games. He wants to play in someone's first team, not sit on the bench."

As for Marriott, McCarthy revealed the 18-year-old is nearing a one-month loan deal to Carlisle.

"He needs to play games. He will be there for a month and we will see how it goes but Jack can score goals at that level," he added.

"There is a two-week break coming up in the Championship but he will have the benefit of playing for them in that time."
