Burnley veteran has not retired from international football

Burnley midfielder Graham Alexander has rejected reports that he has retired from international football with Scotland. Alexander was left out of new Scotland coach Craig Levein's squad for next Wednesday's friendly against Czech Republic at Hampden Park. His omission from the squad prompted speculation that the 38-year-old had decided to call time on his international career. However, Alexander has confirmed to Burnley's official website that he still wants to play for Scotland and was not included in the squad due to injury. Alexander has recently been sidelined with a calf strain and spoke to Levein to confirm that he would not be fit to face the Czechs. The former Preston North End man, who is now back in light training, has won 40 caps for Scotland, the last of which was against Macedonia last September.
