Brian Laws insists Burnley must remain patient as the club look to nurse midfielder Chris McCann back to full fitness.
McCann suffered cruciate and medial knee ligament damage during the home win over Sunderland in September and made a brief comeback in January.
However, after featuring against Reading in the FA Cup, the 22-year-old lasted just 12 minutes of the 1-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers on 26th January and he has not featured since.
Laws is keen to have McCann available for the club's fight to stay in the Premier League, but the Clarets boss is looking at the bigger picture.
Uncomfortable
"Chris is still feeling his knee slightly," Laws told the club's
official website. "We have to think more long term than short term I am afraid.
"Chris is a fantastic player and we want him back in the side as quickly as we possibly can.
"At the moment we are working with the physio department and the club doctor who say that he still needs that little bit of time.
"There is still a bit of bony bruising which is a bit uncomfortable for him.
"He is still making very, very good progress, but unfortunately we can't heal the bone any quicker than nature, so we are having to be patient."
