Turf Moor outfit sanctioned for mass brawl at Elland Road

Burnley have been found guilty of improper conduct following an unsavoury incident in their clash with Leeds. The Clarets have also been fined in the wake of a mass brawl which marred their 1-0 defeat at Elland Road on 30th April. Players from both sides were involved in a melee after Leeds winger Max Gradel was caught by a high tackle from Burnley midfielder Chris McCann. Referee Phil Crossley was able to diffuse the situation quickly and efficiently, with punishments dished out to a number of players. Leeds pair Eric Lichaj and Neil Kilkenny saw yellow, while McCann was also cautioned. Burnley later admitted a charge of failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative and/or violent behaviour. The Turf Moor outfit have been fined £5,000 while Leeds, who have admitted their charge, have requested a personal hearing.
