Defender to undergo hamstring surgery
Norwich manager Paul Lambert has revealed he will have to try and sign another defender on loan as Leon Barnett requires hamstring surgery.
Barnett has been a key figure in the Canaries' back four all season, having arrived at Carrow Road from West Brom last summer before making the move permanent in January.
However, he suffered a hamstring injury in the victory over Reading last weekend and now looks set to miss the remainder of the Championship campaign.
Lambert admits it is hugely disappointing to lose Barnett's services and he could face difficulties in bringing in a replacement.
"It's a bad injury and he will need surgery," Lambert said in the
Daily Star.
Excellent
"It's a real blow because he has been outstanding for us all season, absolutely excellent.
"It means I will have to try and bring another experienced defender in on emergency loan as soon as possible.
"But it's hard to find someone who is available at this stage of the season.
"People don't want to let their best players go."
