Sky Blues appoint ex-midfielder as U18s coach
Former Coventry player Lee Carsley has been appointed as the club's new Under-18s coach.
The 37-year-old, who also played at Derby, Blackburn, Everton and Birmingham, captained the Sky Blues as a midfielder throughout the 2010-11 season.
After calling time on his playing career earlier this summer, the ex-Republic of Ireland international has decided to take a coaching role with the Midlanders' academy.
He told the club's
official website: "I couldn't think of a better place to learn my trade of being a coach than Coventry City.
"The academy has a great reputation of producing players that are playing in the first team.
"I've been a player for 21 years and it's a bit strange getting out of that mentality."
Carsley, who spent two separate stints at Coventry, represented the Republic of Ireland in both the 1998 and 2002 World Cups, earning a total of 39 caps for his country.
