QPR boss Ian Holloway hailed his side after they nicked a late point in a 2-2 draw at Newcastle on Wedneday night.
The Hoops fell behind within a minute when Jonjo Shelvey smashed one home, but levelled through Conor Washington before Matt Ritchie put Newcastle ahead again after the break.
Holloway's side then seemed to be heading for defeat, but Ciaran Clark headed in an own goal in the 90th minute to share the spoils at St James' Park.
"We took one on the chin with a ridiculously early goal, Jonjo Shelvey smashed it in and they might have been smelling blood, thinking they beat us by six before," Holloway told Sky Sports.
"But this group has come together, we made a lot of changes and we showed it and stuck to what we wanted to do. If I'm going to be critical it's just in that final finish, but that comes with a bit of confidence.
"I thought we were absolutely terrific and we implemented [our plan] against a very, very good side."
Holloway has made a host of changes to his squad since replacing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in charge of QPR, and he says he's starting to feel as though his squad is coming together.
"I like young players, I want to influence and help them and I want my senior ones to help them," he said. "I thought they were brilliant tonight.
"It's all about believing in yourself, we've had a rough time for quite awhile and I want to get a new atmosphere here, and it's starting to come. We know we can start to trust each other."
