Briatore keen on former Italy boss

QPR co-owner Flavio Briatore has admitted he would love to appoint Marcello Lippi as manager if the club are promoted to the Premier League. The Loftus Road club are currently sitting pretty at the top of the Championship table under boss Neil Warnock after an unbeaten start to the new season. Warnock was only appointed in February of this year and is the seventh man at the helm of the Rs in the past four years as their ambitious owners target a return to the top-flight. And while Briatore did not suggest he was looking to part company with the former Sheffield United and Crystal Palace boss, he did reveal his 'dream' to bring in Lippi.

Dream

Lippi guided Italy to World Cup glory in 2006 and has been out of the game since leaving his post as national team boss following their dismal showing at this summer's World Cup finals. Briatore told Italian magazine Chi: "Bernie Ecclestone and I have a 70 per cent stake in QPR, and we are top of the table. "If we go into the Premier League, I have a dream. "That is to have Marcello Lippi as our coach."
