Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand has issued a statement declaring that he has 'strong feelings' about what happened in the match against Chelsea, but will not comment further until the Football Association's investigation has been concluded.
An inquiry has been launched following allegations that Chelsea captain John Terry racially abused Ferdinand during the West London derby at Loftus Road on 23rd October, which QPR won 1-0.
Terry responded by vowing to clear his name after categorically denying the claims, which are also being assessed by Metropolitan Police following an anonymous complaint.
Ferdinand has previously admitted he finds it crazy to be embroiled in a racism row in this day and age, but he has kept his focus on performing as well as possible for QPR.
He started Sunday's 3-1 defeat at Tottenham and earned praise from manager Neil Warnock for showing his strength of character with a fine display.
Thorough inquiry
Ferdinand has now thanked the club for their support in a statement released on the
official QPR website.
The 26-year-old has confirmed that he has very clear views about the incident involving Terry, but declined to go into greater detail as he awaits the outcome of the FA probe.
"Today (Monday 31st October 2011) I finalised my statement with the Football Association with regards to the incident that occurred last Sunday at Loftus Road in our Barclays Premier League fixture against Chelsea," read Ferdinand's statement.
"I have very strong feelings on the matter, but in the interests of fairness and not wishing to prejudice what I am sure will be a very thorough inquiry by the FA, this will be my last comment on the subject until the enquiry is concluded.
"I would like to thank the club, Tony Fernandes, Amit Bhatia, Neil Warnock, the supporters and my fellow professionals for their unwavering support."
