Chris Ramsey: I'd resume old QPR role under new manager

Chris Ramsey says he would be not too proud to resume his old role at QPR this summer if a new manager was appointed.

Ramsey was promoted to first-team manager from academy boss following Harry Redknapp's resignation, but his deal in the top job expires in the summer.

The former Spurs boss claimed this week that, as a black manager, he might struggle to find work in the future.

And asked about the possibility of resuming work with Rangers' youth set-up he said: "I've got a mortgage and university fees to pay, I don't think I've got the luxury to decide whether I'm going to be a manager again or a coach.

"That's where I'm unique in comparison to a lot of people, I've done every job at a football club. I'm from North London and a humble background. My road in life is to look after my family and make sure I don't end up selling the Evening Standard outside Leicester Square station.

"That's what I'm trying to do really - make sure I secure my future. I would be happy doing whatever the owners feel is my role at the club.

"If a new manager was to come in and I had to take a different step - not a backwards step, a different step - it would depend on how that manager would see having a shadow around the place. I wouldn't feel aggrieved to have to go back to do what I did before."

His immediate job is to save Rangers from relegation, and ahead of Saturday's tip to West Brom he said:  "There's no doom and gloom here. We've tried to make sure everything is as upbeat as possible."
