Barnsley have appointed former winger Martin Devaney as the club's professional development phase coach.

Devaney, 35, who spent six years as a player at Oakwell, will work alongside lead Under-18s coach Chris Howarth and senior development coach Paul Heckingbottom.

"I'm really pleased," Devaney told the club's official website. "I'm really excited to get going. I can't wait to get on the grass.

"I want to help improve them as players and make them better prepared when they step out on Oakwell."
