Barnsley have signed striker Shaun Tuton from FC Halifax on a two-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old has scored 12 goals for the Vanarama National League strugglers this season.

Lee Johnson's Reds fought off competition from a number of Football League clubs to sign Tuton, and he told the club's official website: "I'm over the moon, obviously.

"I've been stepping up over the past couple years from Evo-Stik to the Conference, within five months to get a move to a big League 1 club is great.

"When I first heard, I was sat waiting and heard a few rumours, when my agent said it was finalised I couldn't wait to get over and sign."
