Barnsley's Dimitri Cavare was sent off against Fulham after shoving Stefan Johansen in the back resulting in the midfielder colliding with Stevie Mallen.
As the 22-year-old drove through the middle of the park in a determined jaunt forward from defence, Johansen stuck out a leg in a clumsy challenge inside the centre circle and when referee Andy Davies blew his whistle, all hell broke loose.
When Tykes midfielder Stevie Mallan approached the referee, Johansen turned to approach his counterpart and argue his cause. But Cavare had other ideas and - despite winning a free-kick - let his anger get the better of him before senselessly pushing the Fulham midfielder.
The momentum of the push saw Johansen inadvertently headbutt Mallan, before falling to the floor and clutching his face.
Cavare had only been booked six minutes previously, but he received a second yellow card for the cheap shot and had to watch from the sidelines as Kevin McDonald and Ryan Sessegnon scored in stoppage time to ensure the Whites took a 3-1 victory and all three points back to the capital.
