Robins delighted with loan arrival
Barnsley have completed the signing of Diego Arismendi on a season-long loan from Stoke City.
The Uruguay international, who joined Stoke last summer from Nacional, struggled to establish himself in Tony Pulis' plans last season.
The 22-year-old made only two appearances in the side and spent the end of the campaign on loan at Brighton.
Tykes boss Mark Robins believes Arismendi will prove a valuable addition to his squad for next season.
"I am delighted to have brought Diego into the club," Robins told the club's
official website. "He has signed on a season-long loan and I am very pleased that Stoke City have allowed him to come here.
"He is a full Uruguayan international. He has not played much for Stoke but they signed him for a big fee last summer and I am looking forward to working with him.
"He is a very good player and will compete for a place in our midfield. Diego is another great addition to our squad."
Robins revealed Arismendi was unlikely to be the last new arrival at Oakwell with the club working on a few other possible deals.
"There are one or two things happening as well and we are close on a couple. Hopefully we will have more announcements to make soon," added Robins.
