Barnsley midfielder James Bailey has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

Bailey, 26, spent just one season at Oakwell after arriving on a free transfer from Derby in July last year.

"The club would like to thank James for his services over the past 12 months and wish him well for the future," read a brief club statement.

Bailey, who made 29 appearances for Barnsley, progressed through Crewe's youth system and was signed by Derby for an undisclosed fee in May 2010.

He featured in 64 games for Derby and had a near season-long loan spell at Coventry from September 2012.
