Hull City caretaker boss Mike Phelan has told Sky Sports News HQ he is in the dark over details of the club's takeover but remains hopeful his own future will be resolved.

We understand discussions are ongoing between Hull City and Chinese/American investors led by Chien Lee, but an agreement has still to be reached on a purchase figure for the club.

Former Hull chairman Paul Duffen has been working as a facilitator to help find a buyer for the club, and he was pictured with Lee and vice-chairman Ehab Allam at an U23 match earlier this month.

However, Sky Sports News HQ understands he is not expected to be involved in a senior role at the club if the deal goes through.

Phelan, who will be in caretaker charge again on Saturday when Hull face Chelsea at the KCOM Stadium, said: " I don't know whether there is a takeover, if it is moving forward or further away.

"I had a coffee and cake on Tuesday (with Ehab Allam), which was really positive, but then a couple of days later things change."
