Hull City striker Yannick Sagbo will serve a two-match ban for a tweet he sent supporting Nicolas Anelka's use of the quenelle gesture.
The Ivory Coast international will sit out the first two games of next season after an ‘aggravated breach’ of FA Rule E3 in relation to a comment he posted on Twitter in relation to Nicolas Anelka’s use of the quenelle gesture.
The FA’s appeal board upheld the charge that the comment was ‘abusive and/or indecent and/or insulting and/or improper, and furthermore included a reference to ethnic origin and/or race and/or religion or belief.’
An Independent Regulatory Commission has fined Sagbo £15,000, warned him as to his future conduct and ordered him to complete a compulsory education course.
In addition, the player’s two-game suspension has been upheld. This decision is final and binding and there is no right of further challenge.
Sagbo scored four goals in 34 appearances for Hull last season after signing from French club Evian.
