Leeds' new owner Andrea Radrizzani believes the club has the potential to reach the Premier League and establish itself in the top half of the table over time

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani insists "everything is possible" this season but has urged the club's supporters to remain grounded as he continues his rebuilding process at Elland Road.

Radrizzani assumed full control of Leeds earlier this year after purchasing former owner Massimo Cellino's 50 per cent stake in the Yorkshire club.

The Italian has set about stamping his own mark on the club - appointing Thomas Christiansen as Garry Monk's replacement ahead of the new season.

Monk guided Leeds to seventh in the Championship last season - the club's highest league finish for seven years - but Radrizzani is hoping the club can go one better and finish inside the top six as they look to win promotion back to the top-flight of English football.

"The club I found was in real urgent need of being revitalised. It needed important and immediate action," he said.

"Gradually we've started to become a more modern football club. The completion of the process should be to get back to the Premier League one day.

"I hope this will be sooner than later but we are starting a process so I don't want to make illusions to fans and say we are ready to get promoted this year.

"For sure, we are ready to compete and if we compete we have confidence that we can get promoted. If not, we have another year of working harder and harder to continue our project. One day we will be back where we belong."

Radrizzani believes a stable working relationship between the club, manager and fans is the key to success.

"Last year was the first year we've had better results. The years before, the results on the pitch were poor. The pitch is synonymous with how the club itself is managed," he said.

"If you see Reading or Huddersfield in the Championship - Leicester previously - when there is a good chemistry between the manager, the club, the technical side, the supporters - everything is possible.

"That's the message I want to bring. We are built to compete in the top six but everything is possible. We can go beyond this result if we believe in what we want to achieve."
