Argentine forward on the mend after worrying blow
Leeds striker Luciano Becchio is 'recovering well' after a kick in the face against Norwich knocked him unconscious and left him swallowing his tongue.
The 26-year-old Argentinian was stretchered off in the 11th minute at Carrow Road after being kicked in the side of the head by Canaries defender Michael Nelson.
Becchio was taken to hospital in Norwich but was released later the same day and returned home with the squad, as his side went down 1-0 to the League One leaders.
Leeds manager Simon Grayson told the club's
official website: "He travelled back with us and he's recovering well. We are monitoring his progress.
"The physios and the doctors were terrific with their response."
Mike Grella was brought on in place of Becchio at the weekend, but the Whites were unable to pass Fraser Forster in the Norwich goal.
The result leaves Leeds 11 points behind the Canaries, while third-placed Millwall climbed level on points with them as the race for automatic promotion took another twist.
Tresor Kandol was shown a straight red card in the dying minutes in East Anglia, just 20 seconds after coming on to replace Andy Hughes.
Kandol raised his hands to opposing midfielder Darel Russell, and is expected to receive a four-match ban.
Manager Grayson added: "We saw it. He got the lad by the throat and once you raise your arms to anyone you give the referee an opportunity to send you off.
"It was disappointing for him, and that's ruled him out for a good while now before the end of the season."
Leeds have another big game at the weekend when fellow promotion hopefuls Swindon Town travel to Elland Road.
