Walsall took full advantage of Burton’s game being postponed as they won 1-0 at Millwall to go top of Sky Bet League 1 on goal-difference.
Albion's game at Bradford was one of five matches called off in the division due to heavy rain in the north of England and the Saddlers made the most of their opportunity to return to the summit.
Slovakian forward Milan Lalkovic scored the only goal of the game after 29 minutes at The Den.
Gillingham kept up the pressure on Walsall and Burton in the automatic promotion places as they secured a 3-1 victory against Swindon at the County Ground.
The home side took the lead on 18 minutes but Bradley Dack replied straight away before Jake Hessenthaler gave the Kent side the half-time lead.
Ryan Jackson then wrapped up the points as he pounced to score after 69 minutes, with Swindon defender Raphael sent off in the closing stages after he picked up a second yellow card.
Coventry were also victorious as they saw off the challenge of Port Vale, with James Maddison drilling home from outside the area with 10 minutes left on the clock to secure a 1-0 win at the Ricoh Arena.
Wigan's home game with Sheffield United was also postponed and they slipped down to sixth place in the table after Peterborough beat Chesterfield 2-0 to leapfrog the Latics in the table.
Conor Washington scored twice for Posh at the ABAX Stadium - his sixth and seventh goals in his last five matches - as English football's highest scoring team continued to impress.
Elsewhere, Shrewsbury and Fleetwood played out a 1-1 draw that saw them both climb above Chesterfield on goal-difference.
Southend remain just outside the play-off places in seventh despite winning 2-0 at Colchester in the Essex derby, second half goals from John White and Dave Mooney wrapping up the points.
In the only other game to survive the weather in League One, Paddy Madden scored a 20th-minute winner as Scunthorpe won 1-0 away to Doncaster.
Three other games in the division had to be called off, with Blackpool's home game with Oldham, Barnsley's trip to Bury and Rochdale v Crewe at Spotland all postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
