Oxford have completed the double signing of midfielder Joe Rothwell from Manchester United and forward Chris Maguire.

Rothwell, 21, has put pen to paper on a two-year contract and Maguire, 27, has agreed a one-year deal to stay with the newly-promoted Sky Bet League One club after joining on a short-term deal in January.

"They are two very exciting signings," Oxford head coach Michael Appleton told the club's official website.

"We have obviously worked with Chris before and know his quality and what he will bring to the squad, while Joe is a really talented lad who we believe has a very bright future."

Rothwell failed to make a senior appearance for United but was included in the squad for the home win against Watford in March. He has had loan spells at Blackpool and Barnsley.

Maguire made over 150 appearances for first club Aberdeen and joined Derby for £400,000 in June 2011 before moving on to Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee a year later.
