Delight for Soccer Saturday Super 6 winner
Saturday 3 September 2016 17:40, UK
Check out the stories from some of the 29 players celebrating a share of the jackpot in the £250,000 Super 6 game last weekend.
A late goal from an unlikely source secured Super 6 glory for no fewer than 29 players last Saturday.
With seconds remaining in the latest round of the free-to-play game, it appeared that the prize would not be won with Crystal Palace, trailing 1-0 against Bournemouth, largely to blame.
However, then came a stoppage-time header from Palace captain Scott Dann for a 1-1 draw which ensured that the £250,000 jackpot would be shared amongst an incredible 29 players, each receiving £8,620.
Late Goal Gives Burton Man A Lift
Amongst the lucky winners was Mark Scattergood, a fork-lift driver from Burton-on Trent. Mark, 47, who plans to use the money for home improvements said of his win: "I'd gone to the pub to meet a friend who had got married that day so hadn't checked my selections and had no idea. The call came just as I was telling my friend Aston Villa had let me down in an accumulator bet to win £195 so this more than made up for it!"
Warrington Winner
Another winner, JJ Smith from Warrington, was also celebrating a wedding when he found out. "My son had got married the day before, so I was just relaxing having not been home that long. What a great surprise to an already wonderful weekend!"

JJ, a business manager in a school, plans to splash some of the cash on a new bathroom.
Evans Above In Telford
Helena Evans from Telford came home from a day out shopping to discover she had won.
The 23-year-old mum who plans to use her winnings for a holiday said: "My husband persuaded me to give it a go since its free and you have nothing to lose. I haven't got a clue about football either but I still won £8000!"
Other winners amongst the lucky 29 included three policemen and a kitchen fitter. Some of the winners spoke of their good fortune:
- Ashley Curless, 41, of Andover: "I'm an Arsenal fan and was going to go 3-0 but changed at the last minute because they always concede!"
- David Peatfield, 22, of Leeds: "My girlfriend has just moved back home from university and we were looking at places to live together but struggling for money. This has given us exactly what we needed and should help us get on the property ladder. I plan to take the family out for a meal and possibly go on a festive trip to the Christmas markets somewhere in Europe too."
- Stuart Cowan, 34, from Kircaldy: "I'm a Liverpool fan so Scott Dann, who is also a Liverpool fan, did me a big favour with his late goal for Palace. Cheers Scott! Everyone who has heard about my win are now signing up on the app - even the ones who don't like football."
- William Johannesen, 60, from Glasgow: "I was down the allotment getting some peace and quiet so had no idea of the results let alone that I'd won. I can split the money between my seven kids and with one of them living in Abu Dhabi this will really help with a trip to see her later in the year."
- Daniel Jones, 32, from Hereford: "What is there to lose by playing Super 6? I've been playing for three years now, more as a bit of fun competition with friends and family. Can honestly say I never thought I'd score a maximum though. I was lost for words when I saw the results!"
How The Winners Struck Super 6 Gold
The Super 6 results in full:
- Chelsea 3-0 Burnley
- Crystal Palace 1-1 Bournemouth
- Everton 1-0 Stoke
- Leicester 2-1 Swansea
- Southampton 1-1 Sunderland
- Watford 1-3 Arsenal
Winners were rewarded for going against the expected outcome in the match at St Mary's where Southampton - odds-on favourites before kick-off - had to settle for a come-from-behind draw against Sunderland.
An easy 3-0 win for Chelsea was popular and doubts around Arsenal's defence were backed up by a well-supported 3-1 win at Watford.
Players are required to predict the score of the six selected matches, with a £250,000 cash prize shared between those who manage to do so and £5,000 guaranteed for the best player in the event that nobody lands the jackpot.
