Sheffield United have completed the loan signing of midfielder Jay O'Shea from Sky Bet League One rivals Chesterfield.

Irishman O'Shea, 28, out of contract at Chesterfield next summer, will stay with the Blades until the end of the season.

"Jay is someone we've monitored for quite a while now," Blades boss Chris Wilder told the club's official website.

"He is a very good footballer, capable of playing in several attacking positions.

"He plays centrally or in wide areas and we're confident he will create chances and score goals too.

"He gives us options and versatility and has been a stand-out performer when Chesterfield have enjoyed success."

O'Shea started out in England at Birmingham and after loan spells at Middlesbrough, Stevenage and Port Vale joined MK Dons on a free transfer in 2011.
