Gillingham fire kit man after away strip left behind before MK Dons game

Gillingham have sacked kit man Bob Lewin after their away strip was left behind in Kent for last Saturday’s League One fixture at MK Dons.
The Gills had to call upon staff at the MK Dons club shop to print numbers on the back of their training kit - and were set to take to the field in it - before the proper shirts eventually arrived at Stadium MK, just 15 before the 3pm kick off.
Lewin will be replaced until the end of the season by his predecessor Malcolm Steadman, who returns to the role after retiring last year.
"I would like to thank Bob for what he has done since he has been here," Gillingham manager Adi Pennock said.
Despite being able to play Saturday's game in the correct attire, Gillingham lost 3-2, leaving them hovering just above the League One relegation zone.
