Port Vale have appointed Michael Brown as their new permanent manager after a spell in caretaker charge of the club.
Brown, who was brought in in December following the resignation of Bruno Ribeiro, has only won five of his 24 games in charge and could not stop them being relegated to League Two.
Vale also confirmed Brown's backroom staff of David Kelly and Chris Morgan would join him as assistant managers.
Brown said: "It's a fantastic opportunity for me.
"It was when the Chairman gave me the role (of caretaker manager) in December. It hasn't gone to plan with problems we didn't envisage.
"We've not got over the line but we have to look forward now and me and my staff are looking forward to the new challenge
"The fans were fantastic on the day (Port Vale were relegated). We were going up to them thinking 'we might get a bit of stick here' but we got applauded by every single one of them. It was great sign of the efforts from the players but we just weren't good enough
"We are an ambitious group and we have to find a team and a formula to get straight back up. It's going to be difficult but we are up for the challenge."
