Clarence Seedorf is among the candidates being considered to take over as manager of Oldham Athletic.

The Dutchman was interviewed by the board on Thursday night at Boundary Park following the departure of John Sheridan earlier in the week. He then had a tour of the club's new facilities and dinner with club chairman Simon Corney in Manchester.

Oldham have also interviewed former Scotland player and former Fleetwood Town manager Steven Pressley.

More interviews are expected next week with an appointment set to be announced by October 14.

The Latics sit second from bottom of the Sky Bet League One table after losing seven of their opening 10 games. Their last defeat was a 5-1 hammering at Rotherham on Saturday, although they did record a 3-2 home win over Peterborough in midweek.

Sheridan had returned to take charge of the club for a third time on January 13, exactly a year after taking the post for a second time. He inherited a squad at the bottom of the third tier but was able to guide the club to safety with a game to spare.

Seedorf, 41, is a four-time Champions League winner and has managerial experience with AC Milan and Chinese side Shenzhen.
