Skysports.com understands Steve Phillips is hoping to secure a permanent move away from Bristol Rovers in January. Phillips is currently on loan at Crewe after being allowed to depart the Memorial Stadium on a temporary basis. Rovers are understood to be willing to let the experienced keeper leave on a free transfer when the transfer window reopens and a number of clubs are thought to be monitoring Phillips' situation. Crewe have already expressed an interest in keeping Phillips on a permanent basis, while Shrewsbury, where he enjoyed a loan spell earlier this term and a number of SPL sides are weighing up a move for the 31-year-old. Phillips' agent, Clive Hart, has confirmed the former Bristol City keeper is keen to find himself a permanent deal somewhere in the New Year. "Steve is hoping to secure a permanent move to a new club in January," Hart told skysports.com. "Bristol Rovers are willing to let Steve leave on a free transfer and we will see what offers come in for him. "Crewe have already expressed an interest in keeping Steve, while Shrewsbury are keeping tabs on him after a successful loan spell there and a couple of SPL clubs are tracking him. "Steve is open to all offers and he will make a decision on his future in January."
