Sodden pitch deemed unplayable
Stockport County's League One clash with Oldham has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Persistent rain overnight and throughout the day in Greater Manchester meant that referee Jon Moss was required to make a pitch inspection on Tuesday evening.
And the midweek clash has been forced to be called off after a sodden Edgeley Park playing surface was deemed unplayable.
Stockport's groundstaff had tried to defy the heavy precipitation by removing water from the pitch using sponge rollers, but it was not enough as yet another football fixture falls foul to the winter weather.
Oldham have now had two postponements in three days after the Latics' game against Brentford was called off at the weekend due to a frozen pitch.
