Leyton Orient have appointed 43-year-old Italian Mauro Milanese as their first-team manager.
Milanese fills the vacancy at Brisbane Road that had been left by Russell Slade’s move to Cardiff. Kevin Nugent, who had been in caretaker charge, will stay on as a coach.
A club statement said: “Being a graduate of the prestigious Converciano coaching and management centre, Mauro will be an important fixture on the Orient bench providing an effective, hands-on presence for the players.”
The role will be Milanese’s first in management after a playing career which included spells at Torino, Napoli and Internazionale, and 40 games for QPR between 2005 and 2007.
Milanese had previously been Orient's sporting director, a post he took up in the wake of Francesco Becchetti's takeover of the club in the summer.
