Campion pens permanent deal

Port Vale have signed on-loan French striker Achille Campion to a permanent deal.

Campion had been on loan from Swedish side Norrby IF but he has put pen to paper on an 18-month contract, with Vale paying an undisclosed fee for his services. The Valiants are hopeful the 24-year-old's permanent international clearance will come through in time for him to play against Gillingham on Saturday. Boss Rob Page told the club's official website: "Campion has been on loan and has showed he has an eye for goal in the reserve games he has played. "The plan now is to develop him into an asset for Port Vale Football Club." Having been in prolific goalscoring form for the reserve team, including a brace against Stoke, Campion was handed his first-team debut by Page as a substitute in the draw at Gillingham last month. He came off the bench again in Vale's loss to Swindon last weekend.
