Port Vale v Carlisle preview

Image: Jak McCourt: Set for Port Vale debut

New signing Jak McCourt could make his Port Vale debut in Tuesday night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy home clash with Carlisle.

McCourt joined Vale on a one-month loan deal from Leicester on Friday and was an unused substitute in Saturday's 1-0 Sky Bet League 1 loss to Bradford.

Fellow midfielder Michael Brown is set to miss seven to 10 days due to the knock that kept him out of the weekend's game, but forward Byron Moore is expected to be fit for selection despite coming off against the Bantams because of illness.

It still looks to be too soon for midfielder Michael O'Connor (knee) or goalkeeper Chris Neal (ankle) to be involved.

Charlie Wyke and David Atkinson remain on the sidelines for Carlisle as manager Keith Curle ponders changes to his line-up.

Wyke suffered a broken metatarsal in a training-ground accident before Saturday's clash with Hartlepool, while Atkinson is a week to 10 days away from a return to training after tearing a hamstring.

Top scorer Jabo Ibehre could be rested for the game as Curle has indicated he will make wholesale changes.
