Scunthorpe United have sacked manager Mark Robins after 15 months in charge.
Robins and his assistant, David (Ned) Kelly, have left Glanford Park with immediate effect and depart with the team having won twice in their past 10 games, their latest result a 5-0 thrashing at Blackpool on Saturday.
That defeat left Scunthorpe in 16th place in Sky Bet League 1, six points clear of the relegation places.
United chairman Peter Swann said: "We are sad to part company with Mark and Ned, but we have to think about the best interests of Scunthorpe United Football Club.
"We wish Mark and Ned all the best for the future."
The club have confirmed that Nick Daws and Andy Dawson will take caretaker charge for Saturday's home game against Colchester.
Scunthorpe had been beaten 2-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup third round prior to their trip to Blackpool at the weekend.
Robins had been in the job since October 2014 and last season guided the Iron, who were second-bottom when he took over, to a 16th-placed finish.
The 46-year-old former Manchester United striker had previously managed at Huddersfield, Coventry, Barnsley and Rotherham.
Sky Bet Odds
Former Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill is the early favourite to be Scunthorpe's next manager with Sky Bet. Cotterill heads the betting at 3/1 followed by former Swindon chief Mark Cooper at 5/1. Brian Laws can be supported at 10/1 to make another return to the Iron.
