Seasiders boss vows to keep cool head this term
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway insists he is going to stay calm whatever the Premier League throws at him this season.
The Tangerines boss saw his side miraculously beat Wigan 4-0 on the opening day of the campaign, but they were soundly defeated 6-0 by Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday.
Experienced coach Holloway has already met a number of challenges in his career to date, but he has never managed in the top-flight before.
He believes that Blackpool have a chance of survival this term, but will be taking every game as it comes, keeping a level head in the process.
"I am not a person who likes losing, but I have to stay calm to help my lads because I believe in what we are trying to do," Holloway said.
"Are we going to be good enough? I honestly don't know - but I need to stay calm and try to play some modern-day football, like Arsenal.
"However, I also need some big, strong horrible lumps who can do other things, because I might have to throw it into the box every now and again. Whatever I have got to do, I will do it.
"I have got to survive and I will have failed - and I totally believe that - if I don't keep this lot up.
"It is my job to keep them going, it is how you do things, the dignity you keep, we didn't berate the referee and we are going to keep doing that because that's how we got up last year."
Honesty
Holloway added: "I believe in honesty, working hard and team spirit, playing in the Continental way.
"I am a football coach, am developing myself, I want to help my lads and do the best I can.
"I have got three horses at home and I don't hit them with a stick, I just treat them in a way that they want to come with me.
"That is my management, and that is how I am going to do things.
"I might be in a bit of a Skoda garage rather than a Mercedes garage, but I am telling you some old bangers don't half polish up great."
