Acting chief executive Karl Oyston has revealed Blackpool plan to increase the capacity of Bloomfield Road.

Chairman looking at 'filling in the corners' of the east stand

Blackpool's acting chief executive Karl Oyston has revealed the club plan to increase the capacity of Bloomfield Road. The Seasiders intend to make improvements by expanding the two open corners of the ground, regardless if the club manage to stay in the Premier League or not. However, Oyston also revealed the temporary East Stand, which was hastily erected following their promotion to boost the capacity to 16,900, will remain. The club, whose average attendance last season was only 8,611, are still intending to make improvements next summer.

Maximise

Oyston told the Blackpool Gazette: "The mandate during the summer was to maximise the capacity, which we did do by adding the East Stand. "We've made one or two modifications along the way but as far as increasing capacity further goes, I'm not aware of any talk of doing anything with the East Stand. "The only action we are considering is filling the two open corners - the north east and south east. "We are certainly not looking to do anything else with the main body of the East Stand because it would reduce capacity, not enlarge it."
