Blackpool goalkeeper Paul Rachubka is hoping to put his injury nightmare behind him after making a rare start in the 2-0 FA Cup third round defeat at Southampton.
The former Manchester United and Charlton stopper, who spent much of his career out on loan before joining Blackpool on a permanent basis in 2007, has endured a frustrating season so far having been sidelined following knee surgery.
But he now has the chance to re-establish himself having been included in the club's Premier League squad by manager Ian Holloway for the remainder of the campaign.
"It's been a long time since my last game and I don't want it to be that length of time again before I play again," he told the club's
official website.
Pushing
"I'll be pushing hard in training and doing everything I can to get back in the side. I got my chance (against Southampton) and hopefully I've asked questions. We all dream about playing in the Premier League and that's what I want to do."
Just playing again was a major plus for the 29-year-old, who added: "For a keeper, you're either involved or you're not. In other positions you might come on and play 15 minutes, but that doesn't happen as a keeper."
Despite being on the losing side against Southampton, Rachubka was pleased with his own performance which he hopes will strengthen his claims for a regular starting spot.
"I was pleased to make a few good saves," he said. "To come back out of the blue and play in front of a big crowd again, to show I can still do it."
