Blackpool's Karl Oyston has been suspended from any football activity as chairman for six weeks following a Football Association disciplinary hearing after he sent insulting texts to a supporter.
The 47-year-old has also been fined £40,000 after he admitted five breaches of FA rules in relation to the exchange - which included messages containing references to disability - with Blackpool supporter Stephen Smith last November.
Oyston's suspension will run from July 8 until August 18 and the Blackpool chairman must now attend a mandatory education session.
He will not be able to attend any matches at the club's Bloomfield Road stadium during that time and was also warned about his future conduct.
The six-week period is the same length of ban imposed on former Wigan chairman Dave Whelan at the start of the year for his comments about Jewish and Chinese people.
The Blackpool chairman had initially appealed the charge, claiming it was a "private matter" but that was dismissed by an impendent tribunal 12 days ago.
Meanwhile, Blackpool are still waiting for the outcome from investigations launched by the FA and Football League after a pitch invasion caused the abandonment of their game with Huddersfield last month.
