Exeter City have announced that striker Adam Stansfield has died at the age of 31. Stansfield had been suffering from bowel cancer and missed the Grecians' opening two matches of the season. And the club confirmed late on Tuesday night that the former Hereford United man had passed away. A statement on their official website read: "It is with great sadness that Exeter City Football Club have to confirm the news that Adam Stansfield passed away this evening. "Our thoughts are with his wife, family and friends at this time." Tiverton-born Stansfield began his professional career at Yeovil, before moving onto Hereford and Exeter. He made 190 league appearances, scoring 75 goals.
