Oldham Athletic sign Jack Byrne on loan

Oldham have completed the loan signing of midfielder Jack Byrne from Sky Bet League One rivals Wigan.

The 21-year-old will remain with John Sheridan's Latics until January 1, according to the club's official website.

Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Byrne began his career at Manchester City and had loan spells with Dutch club Cambuur and Blackburn before joining Wigan on a three-year deal in January.

He could make his Oldham debut in Tuesday evening's Checkatrade Trophy clash with Port Vale.
