Latics boss keen to get the best out of loan signing

Oldham Athletic manager Dave Penney is hoping to get the best out of new loan signing Jason Price after he lost his way at Millwall. The two worked together, with great success, at Doncaster Rovers, but the experienced winger-cum-striker has managed to make just five league starts since joining Millwall permanently last summer. However, Penney is hoping that a return to the north could bring out the best in the Welshman once again. "We can only bring loan signings in at the moment to help us out, so bringing Jason Price in was a great piece of business for us," Penney told skysports.com. "I've known Jason since our Doncaster days when I brought him in from Hull and his career needs a little boost again, so hopefully it will help both parties. "He is a northern lad and I think that it will suit him a little to come back up here and get some games under his belt." The Latics also brought in Darryl Flahavan on loan once again from cash-strapped Crystal Palace, after the goalkeeper impressed during a similar loan spell earlier this season, but Penney insists he still has other irons in the fire for when the loan window opens next week. He added: "We are talking to a few clubs about different players, but the good thing about us Football League clubs is that we don't need to be rushing about to complete deals with the loan market reopening in a week's time. "I don't mind being patient and waiting while that kicks in, so it wasn't such a panic for us yesterday."
