Winger happy to stay at Oldham

Oldham's highly-rated winger Chris Taylor has revealed that he turned down the chance to join Championship side Scunthorpe last month. The Iron were keen to add the 24-year-old after losing Martin Woolford to Bristol City on transfer deadline day. However, the Oldham-born starlet, who has made over 200 appearances for the Latics, has told skysports.com that he never wanted to leave his hometown club and is determined to help them achieve promotion this season. "Scunthorpe made one or two offers for me and the gaffer sat down to discuss it with me," he said. "I'm not sure whether Oldham would have accepted any of the offers from them, but I was and still am more than happy here. "I love playing for Oldham Athletic and I really think that we have got a good chance of getting promotion this season. "I wanted to stay here and help this club achieve the promotion that everyone is striving for this season.

Morais boost

"I believe the club is going places and the management team here are doing everything they can to get the best out of each and every one of us. "I feel that we are going in the right direction and with a bit of luck we may have even been higher in the table than we are. "However, we are in the top six now and it is all about kicking on and making sure that we remain there for the rest of the season." The Latics have been boosted by fellow winger Filipe Morais signing a permanent deal with the Lancashire outfit until the end of the season, which Taylor insists is great news. "Everyone at the club is delighted to see him sign on until the end of the season, and maybe next season as well, because he has done ever so well for us," said Taylor. "There are a lot of players that are playing well at the moment, but he has been a big part in our play and I for one am glad that he has signed."
