Swansea are unlikely to sign Atletico Madrid pair Kevin Gameiro and Nicolas Gaitan, Sky Sports News understands.

There have been discussions between the clubs but an agreement could not be reached.

It is understood that Atletico were unwilling to sell France international Gameiro, while Argentina midfielder Gaitan's wage demands were too high.

Gameiro joined Atletico from Sevilla for £27m in 2016 and scored 18 goals in his first season in Madrid.

He has scored six goals so far this season and has been linked with several clubs this month, including Southampton.
