Swansea target likely to be offered fresh terms at El Madrigal
Villarreal president Fernando Roig claims Swansea target Marcos Senna remains a key player and could be offered a new contract.
The experienced Spain international has emerged as a shock target for Premier League new boys Swansea City, with manager Brendan Rodgers keen to add an old head to his squad.
Senna's agent has confirmed his client, 34, has spoken to Rodgers about the possibility of moving to England and was impressed with what he heard.
The World Cup winner was expected to leave El Madrigal on a free transfer now his contract has expired but Roig has now come out to reiterate that the player still has a role to play at Villarreal.
"The economic situation is important, but we can try if possible to reach an agreement and let him stay," he told
Marca.
"The coach believes he is a key player, so we'll fight for him to stay."
