Mark Ellis joins Carlisle United from Shrewsbury Town

Mark Ellis has turned his loan from Shrewsbury to Carlisle into a permanent deal.

The 27-year-old defender has been with the Cumbrians on loan since late October and has made 10 appearances for Keith Curle's side.

Now he has penned terms that will keep him with Carlisle until the summer of 2018.

Curle told the club's official website: "Mark has settled well here and he's shown us what he's all about. He's getting better and better with every game and we're delighted that he'll be with us until the end of the 2017-18 season.

"He gives us good options at the back and he's bought in to what we want to do and how we want to do it. He's said himself that he thinks there's even more to come and he's the type of character we want to have around."
