Carlisle have signed veteran defender Clint Hill on a free transfer.
The 38-year-old has signed a short-term contract with the Sky Bet League Two club, although the length of that deal has not been disclosed.
Hill, who has made over 600 appearances during his career, had been without a club since leaving Scottish Premiership side Rangers in July.
"I know Clint very well and I'm pleased that we've been able to bring him into our club," manager Keith Curle told the club's website.
"He is professional, thorough and diligent in everything he does and he'll enjoy being part of the group we've put together here.
"He's had the chance to take a look at us and find out a bit about what we're about over the last few weeks and he sees this is a good step at this stage of his career.
"Fitness-wise he has looked after himself really well and his career path shows that has always been the case. He has played at the highest levels and brings a level of experience those around him will be able to learn from and work off.
"He sets and demands high standards and I know he sees this is a good challenge and one he's looking forward to."Hill started his career at Tranmere in 1997 and has also played for Oldham, Stoke, Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers and Nottingham Forest.
