Parry impressed by youngster after trial spell
Tranmere have signed former Sheffield Wednesday youngster Nick Wood on a one-year contract.
The 19-year-old defender joined Rovers on a one-week trial and impressed manager Les Parry during pre-season games against Mansfield and Nottingham Forest, also scoring a goal.
Wood was released by Wednesday without making an appearance for the club after graduating through the Academy last season.
Parry was positive about the signing, insisting that the defender had the ability to make the first-team next season.
"He is a talented young player and he has applied himself well here," Parry told the club's
official website.
"He has fitted in well, put in two good performances and now there will be lot of competition for places defensively."
Wood added: "I am delighted to sign my contract and hopefully I can push my way into the side and get a regular starting place."
