Manager shown the door with Rovers on 11-game winless run

Sky Sports understands Les Parry has been sacked as manager of Tranmere in the wake of Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Chesterfield. The Prenton Park club have been on a miserable run of form in recent weeks and have now not won for 11 matches, with just five points garnered during that period. With their last League One victory coming at home to Bury back on 30th December, Rovers have plummeted down the standings and are now just one point above the drop zone. Parry was appointed as manager in October 2009, inheriting the reins from John Barnes after the former England international's ill-fated spell at the helm. But with Tranmere now facing a battle to avoid the drop into League Two, the club's hierarchy have taken decisive action with 13 games of the season remaining. The defeat to Chesterfield on Saturday, where Jordan Bowery scored the only goal of the game 15 minutes from time, has proved to be Parry's last at the helm.
