Doncaster manager Darren Ferguson has continued his summer rebuilding by signing defender Joe Wright from Huddersfield.

The 21-year-old, who had a spell on loan at Accrington last season, will join the Sky Bet League Two side on July 1 having agreed a two-year deal.

Wright becomes the fifth player to join Rovers as they prepare to mount a challenge to make an immediate return to League One.

Ferguson said: "He was outstanding for Accrington last season.

"I'm really pleased he has agreed to join because he is a centre-half, a good size, can play from the back and play in a two or three at the back.

"He is one I am pleasantly surprised to get, he was offered something at Huddersfield but he has seen what we are trying to achieve here.

"We are getting there and hoping for more obviously to build the numbers up even more."
