Young striker agrees two-year contract at Keepmoat Stadium

Doncaster Rovers striker Waide Fairhurst has accepted a new two-year contract with the Championship club. Fairhurst scored twice for Doncaster last season after coming through the club's youth ranks and also had a spell on loan at Shrewsbury Town. The 21-year-old, who sustained a foot injury towards the end of the season, is highly rated at the Keepmoat Stadium and will now stay at the club until 2012. Meanwhile, Doncaster's assistant manager Richard O'Kelly is happy to see the club will face Preston North End on the opening day of the new season. O'Kelly told the club's official website: "I don't think you could ask for a better footballing game for the first match of the season. "When you look back on the two games we played against Preston last season, both were entertaining fixtures and good games to watch. "For a third consecutive season, we are away on the opening day of the season which is disappointing, but not a surprise. However, with it being against Preston, it means that we, and our supporters, will not have to travel very far."
