Millwall have agreed a deal to sign Southend winger David Worrall on July 1.

The 25-year-old was available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Roots Hall and has agreed a two-year deal at The Den with an option for a further 12 months.

Worrall will become Millwall manager Neil Harris' first signing of the summer as he begins to shape his squad ahead of the 2016/17 League One season.

He scored nine times in 84 appearances during his two-season spell at Southend and helped Phil Brown's side achieve promotion from League Two via the play-offs in 2015.

Harris told Millwall's official website: "David carries and delivers the ball well and will add something different to the team.

"He has played right-wing for most of his career and can also play right-back. We're delighted to get him as there was a lot of competition for his services."

Beevers, who scored in the 3-1 play-off final defeat to Barnsley in May, will be able to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of June when his contract expires.

Harris added: "Mark has done exceptionally well for us, especially in the second-half of last season.

Carlos Edwards, Ed Upson, Lee Martin and John Marquis have been released by Millwall…

"He is a northern lad who has given good service to us and he has made no secret over the course of the last 12 months that his future probably lies up north.

"We're busy looking at trying to replace Mark in the centre-half positions and we will work tirelessly to not only make sure we get the right player, but as ever to get the right character to continue that team spirit."
