Chairman pleased with promotion-winning troops
Chairman John Berylson paid tribute to Millwall's determination following their League One play-off final victory over Swindon.
Paul Robinson scored late in the first half to seal a 1-0 triumph at Wembley and earn the Lions promotion to the Championship.
Having lost to Scunthorpe in the corresponding fixture last season, Millwall struggled to recover and made a poor start to the 2009/10 campaign.
But a superb run of results during the second half of the season catapulted Kenny Jackett's men up to third and Berylson was delighted to see the club come through the play-offs.
"I am enormously proud of the squad. We came back a long way from Christmas when things looked pretty bleak," he told
Sky Sports.
"I think we had a half year hangover from last year's defeat, but I think we beat Bristol (Rovers) on 28th December and only lost one or two games from there.
"These guys were determined and didn't let anything get in their way."
Asked if he had found a real gem in Jackett, Berylson replied: "I think it's pretty obvious that I have."
Confident
Millwall can now start preparing for life back in English football's second tier but Berylson does not believe the squad needs much strengthening.
The chairman feels Millwall can be competitive at such a level without making drastic changes and is predicting a bright future for the club.
"I look forward to playing them all and all the new cities we will visit. I can't wait," he said.
"I think we have a very good squad. I don't think we have to do that much to it.
"I think we are going to perform quite well and I am quite confident."
